Awards and Honors

Two of my short stories won honors in national fiction contests sponsored by Writer’s Digest and New York Stories magazines. My story titled “Lingering Doubts” won First Place in the New Woman (India) magazine’s 2005 fiction contest. I wrote and directed two plays in the Konkani language, my mother tongue.

A number of my articles and short stories have been published in a variety of newspapers and magazines like India Abroad, Little India, U.S. 1 weekly, DesiJournal.com, Sulekha.com, India Currents, Little India, Kanara Saraswat, Leaves, and New Woman India. I continue to write for most of them.

It is amazing to find so many writers, both established and budding, who are willing to help a new author like myself. The publishing world is a vast and intimidating ocean for a new swimmer and I am immensely grateful to the following authors, whose names and websites I have indicated below. Thanks once again for the helping hands, ladies. I have never met you face to face, but I love you all for your generosity and kindness.
